Eirlys is a proffessional dressmaker and upholsterer, a part time tutor, and love everything to do with art and sewing. I would love to teach you how to create beautiful pieces of work.
Mid week craft breaks are available all year
1. Machine embroidery
2. Painting on silk
3. Using velvets creatively
4. Creating wonderful lace, using magic, dissolving fabric
2 day tuition, 3 nights stay
Arrive Tuesday night and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee on arrival.
Breakfast at 8 a.m., followed by refreshments, light lunch and 5 hours tuition from 10 -4p.m. for 2 days. Depart by 10a.m.

June (first week)
Machine embroidery
Create a small picture from your favourite photo
(after a demonstration by me)
1. Sketch your picture/ object first on paper to check the size and shape.
2.Transfer onto silk – this is thin enough to see through
3.Place fabric in a hoop, correctly
4.Practice different stitches and techniques first on cotton, then on silk
Bring with you:
1. Your sewing machine
2. 2 reels ordinary thread – for bobbin and for practicing
3. A selection of machine embroidery thread (or I could supply these at an extra charge).
4. An embroidery hoop, (I will have 1 for emergencies)
5. Empty bobbins
6. A favourite picture – landscape, flowers etc.
7. Needles for hand embroidery
8. Few colours of embroidery silks for hand embroidery.
9. Paper for sketching, pencil, rubber
10. Small pair of scissors.
(Fabrics will be supplied )
July (first week)
Painting on silk fabric
We will create a beautiful silk square you will be proud of
1.Create a design on paper as a template
2.I will demonstrate how to do everything
Price £!60.00 incl. B&B, light lunch, refreshments and fabrics
Bring with you:
1.Paper for sketching (50 c.m. square), pencil, rubber
2 .A selection of silk paints, small paint brush, clear outliner
( or I can supply paint and outliner at an extra charge).
3.A wooden frame 50c.m x 50c.m. to keep the fabric taught
4.Silk pins for fixing onto the frame
5. A metal tip ffor the outliner bottle- to get a nice thin line
August (first week)
Designing on velvet fabrics
Complete a miniature cushion or pin cushion
Cost £155. incl.B&B, light lunch and refreshments, fabrics and paint
1.Create a simple design on paper or use a simple picture
2.Use a transfer pen or draw a simple disign on your fabric
3. Use bleach to remove some of the colour and use fabric paints to add colour.
4. Quilt the pattern with trapunto method
5. Finish the mini cushion with wadding and backing
Bring with you:
1. small pair scissors
2. Needles for hand sewing
3. Sewing machine
4. small paint brush
5. A bottle of ordinary vinegar
6. A small amount of wadding or wool for stuffing
September (First week)
Creating wonderful lace shapes for applique

After a demonstration you will be able to use magic dissolving fabric to create wonderful lace, using a sewing machine, embroidery hoop, embroidery threads and small pieces of fabrics.
Cost £160 incl B&B, lunch and refreshments
Arrangements will be made for your evening meals.
You will need :
1. Sewing machine
2. A selection of embroidery reels
3. Small scissors for cutting thread
4. An embroidery hoop.
5. Screw driver
6. Small pieces of cotton or silk fabrics
